1 Timothy 6:11-12 Flee Toward God

1 Timothy 6:11-12 “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

Today, we see the Word of God exhorting us, the children of God, to “flee these things” those things which we’ve seen in the Word of God the past two days. We are told to flee those temptations and lusts to gain material wealth and material gain, instead of being content in the Lord our God, who shall supply all our need, and whose grace is always sufficient! When tempted with such things, we shouldn’t just push these things away, rather we should also run away from them! We can push these things away, sit down, close our eyes, put our hands over our ears, and hum to ourselves all we want, but so very often it doesn’t work, hardly ever does it work! Instead, when presented with such things, as with all sin, we must rebuke it, and immediately run to the throne of God, and cry out to Him, our Father, for help! Cry out to Him, for Him to send His angels to surround you as a shield, protecting you from all attacks, and getting rid of all those wicked thoughts and temptations! Then stay at the throne of God, giving Him thanks, giving Him Praise, and Worship, and Glory and Honour! Psalm 91:3-4 “Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.” Psalm 5:12 “For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.” Praise God!

As we cannot simply flee to anywhere, to escape from sin, we must flee to God and His Righteousness. We must, as said in today’s set of verses, follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and meekness! We must seek first the kingdom of God, and His Righteousness! We must learn from Him, and seek to be just like our Father! We must follow that which is godly, seeking to grow in Him, to be clothed in Him and walk in Him completely. Mighty People of God, of whom the devil fears and trembles! We must follow after faith, growing daily in our faith, strengthening it and building it upon the Truth, so that no one can come along and rob us of it and make us doubt, to follow after the lie and unrighteousness unto death! We must seek and follow after Love, as Christ loved us, and loves us still—unconditionally, and without compromise of the Truth! We must also, always seek to grow in patience. If we have an abundance of patience, along with this come longsuffering and endurance amidst the battles we are in and the good fight against Satan and his work in this world. With Patience, that devil can do all numerous things to us, and yet we will not be affected; rather we move on toward our goal . . . and can see the fear in the devil’s eyes as we push ahead without being affected by His attacks, Resting in the strength and the arms of our Lord! And in all, we should never cease to follow after meekness, keeping from Pride and haughtiness! To be meek, is to have the ability to do something, but refraining from doing it because it is not good to do it, or because it is not edifying to the person at the time. We should learn from example; Our Lord and Saviour was the meekest: He had the power to even destroy all those who spoke against Him, He had the power to take Himself off the cross and live. He had the power to do as He pleased. But in meekness, because He loves us so dearly, He did the will of the Father. As He even prayed: (Matthew 26:39) “And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Let us follow after all these things; let us follow after Christ Jesus, Our Lord and Saviour.

The second verse for today reminds us also, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” We must fight the good fight of faith, staying firm and fighting against all the works of the devil which seeks to destroy our faith, and the faith of others, and to keep the lost from finding that faith in our Lord. That which is harmful to the souls of men, we shouldn’t allow to stay in the dark but must shed light on it and expose it in the light of the Truth, the Word of God, the Light of the Lord our Saviour! They come from the devil and should not be taken lightly at all, but it is a fight (Against sin, and the works of the devil, in our own lives and in the lives of others)! We must lay hold on eternal life and let none pry it from our hands by way of misleading us or causing us to doubt. We as the children of God, are called unto Righteousness, and Everlasting Life through Christ Jesus our Lord! Let us do as Timothy did, professing that Eternal life before many witnesses. Let us boldly proclaim the name of Jesus, and the gift of God which is eternal life Through Christ Jesus our Lord! This verse shows we are not called to merely live our own lives, snug as a bug in a rug, safely in our homes reading our Bibles and doing nothing more. Yes, we must take care of our own spiritual lives, but it mustn’t stop there. If we love others, we will struggle against Satan and his attempts to keep them from knowing Life Eternal through Jesus Christ! We Must fight to keep Satan from deceiving the lost, and trying to overthrow the faith of our brothers and sisters, by making them doubt the Word of God, and our God and Father Himself! Righteousness, godliness, and faith demand we proclaim, to all, the Truth we have been allowed to know. And we must proclaim these things in love, patience, and meekness! Praise God, for the opportunity and privilege! Amen!

I love you so much and do continue to keep you in my prayers each day. You are in my thoughts each day as God reminds me of the great blessing you are to me. May God Bless you mightily, and may He guide you and keep you from such lusts and sin, as we flee such things, and run to Him and Him alone—who is able to comfort, heal, protect, strengthen, and guide us in Him through our entire lives! Have a blessed day today!

Love in Christ, Always,
Your friend forever,
And brother,
